Callcorder Pro lets you record your calls on Windows Phone 8 for a hefty price

callcorder pro

While there are plenty of apps to record your calls on Android and iOS, Windows Phone 8 users have been out of luck, since the OS blocks the mic for third party apps during calls (which can be good for your privacy though). Now, an app by the name of Callcorder Pro has been released on the platform to do the same job.

Callcorder Pro uses PBX-type server to record both sides of the conversation and as a result, is available only in select counries for now. To record an incoming or an outgoing call, users simply need to open the app and hit the record button. These recorded calls can then be transferred to a computer.

The only downside of the app is that it costs a steep $9.99. It’s a one time payment though and once purchased, the app offers unlimited call recordings. You can grab the app from here. There’s no free trial available. Here’s what the app has to offer:

  • Record unlimited phone calls
  • No subscription fee.
  • Record incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Email recordings.
  • transfer recordings (mp3) to computer.
  • upload on OneDrive.

moliplayer pro windows phone

When it comes to playing media on your Windows Phone, there isn’t much of a choice. Had it not been for MoliPlayer Pro, we wouldn’t have even been able to watch half our videos due to the lack of support for some formats on the default player. The app has just picked an update on the platform, adding more features to what is already a solid third party player.

Google and Apple reportedly tying with developers for platform exclusives

0

plants vs zombies 2

It seems like the rivalry between Apple and Google is so intense that both are ready to go to any length to get more mobile market share. The latest bit comes from Washington Post, that reports that both the companies have been trying to make deals with game developers and publishers to get their games to be exclusive for a certain period of time on their respective platforms.

If you remember, Plants vs. Zombies 2 came to iOS two months before it hit Android in October. Well, according to Washington Post, Apple had managed to successfully crack a deal with Electronic Arts to keep the game exclusive to iOS for two months. In return, the game was given premium position on the features list, as well as the home page of the App Store.

Another such instance was that of the sequel of Cut the Rope, which again was an exclusive to iOS for three months.

With deals like this, it’s clear how much both the companies value each and every customer. With hardware and user experience becoming at par on both the platforms, the companies are now trying to differentiate based on the catalogue of apps that their platforms offer.

Google refunds Virus Shield buyers their money along with a $5 Play Store voucher

virus-shield

Remember Virus Shield, the $3.99  fake app that claimed to protect your Android devices from virus and malware, but did nothing except changing a cross sign to a check one? Well, not only was Google quick to pull the app from the Play Store, but it’s now offering the people who purchased the app their money back. Along with that, the company is also offering a $5 voucher on the Play Store as an apology.

Before the scam was uncovered, Virus Shield quickly rose to fame, even becoming the Top Paid app on the Play Store for a brief while. The app managed to get over 10,000 downloads before it was eventually pulled from the Store after AndroidPolice uncovered the scam.

It’s good to see Google taking responsibility and refunding buyers their money. After all, it’s the company’s job to see that no spam apps get on the Play Store. But since the system is automated, some people always find a loop hole to get around the tight regulations. Here’s what Google has written in the email it sent to people who purchased the app.
“Hello,

We’re reaching out to you because you recently purchased the “Virus Shield” app on Google Play.

This app made the false claim that it provided one-click virus protection; in reality, it did not.

Google Play’s policies strictly prohibit false claims like these, and in light of this, we’re refunding you for your “Virus Shield” purchase. You should see funds returned to your account within the next 14 days.

Additionally we’d like to offer you $5 promotional credit1, which can be used to purchase digital content on Google Play such as apps, games, books, music and movies.

Your credit redemption code is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Click or tap here to redeem. For help redeeming, please visit our Help Center.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused; rest assured that we’re always working to make Google Play better for our users.

Thank you,
Google Play Support”

Beats Music updates on iOS and Android

Beats music

Beats Music which is another music streaming service besides the plethora of options available already has been given a massive update on both Android and iOS to make it more appealing to the crowd. The updates are different and bring different new features on both the platforms.

Talking about iOS first, the update allows you to subscribe from within the app rather than from the web. It sure does make things convenient for the consumers. On Android, the app gets a new widget. As for the common new features on both platforms, you can now follow your Facebook friends on Beats Music. The app also offers better Facebook and Twitter account management. Thousands of new songs have also been added to the Sentence playlist generator. The app also gets offline mode and downloading improvements, along with Music Player performance fixes. If that’s enough to make some Spotify and Rdio users jump ship, remains to be seen. The app is also available on Windows Phone, but hasn’t received any developer love this time. Find the links for the app below.

Games app on Windows Phone 8.1 gets updated a second time, squashes bugs

games windows phone

Last time Microsoft updated the Games app for Windows Phone 8.1, it wasn’t well received by the community, since the update broke the app. Microsoft was quick to address the issue and has published version 2.0.1404.16001 of the app in the Store already.

The update fixes the issues that were introduced after the first update, including none of the installed games showing up in the app, or user profiles not loading up. There’s no changelog, but users are reporting that these issues have been fixed with the update. We can also confirm the same.

You can grab Games for Windows Phone here. it’s currently sitting on a very low user rating, but we reckon that would change as people hit the update button.

FarmVille 2: Country Escape lands on iOS and Android

farmville 2

It’s time to recall that gardener in you, since Zynga has launched Farmville 2 out on mobile devices already. Sequel to extremely popular Farmville, the game will be hoping to keep users occupied in the same way the first one did so easily. The game has been available on Facebook since 2012. However, the mobile version isn’t a simple port of the web version, but has been designed with touch input first in mind. The core gameplay has also been slightly modified to better suit the needs of mobile players. The gameplay has also sped up, since mobile users aren’t likely to wait as long as their desktop counterparts for their crops to mature, or their cows to milk.

Farmville 2 puts you in the boots of a farmer with one goal in mind – to build the ultimate farm. Users can grow a variety of crops, water them, raise cattle and livestock and do all the other stuff that goes around on a farm. Users can connect their mobile farm to their web farm and swap items between them too. Also, instead of taking help from Facebook friends (which resulted in a lot of annoying notifications for others) on the web version, players can instead join guilds and use the help of their friendly neighbors. A new anonymous mode also allows player to progress through the game without taking help from neighbors or friends. What’s more, the game can be played offline.

Farmville 2 is free on both the platforms and comes with in-app purchases that aren’t necessary, unless you want to really speed up things.
