Halo: Spartan Strike is now available in Windows Store and Windows Phone Store (Update: And iOS)

halo spartan strike

Windows Phone users don’t get their hands on a lot of exclusive content and when they do, they’re made to wait a lot. It’s been more than six months since Halo: Spartan Strike was announced for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1. Sequel to critically acclaimed Halo: Spartan Assault, the game was originally set to be launched in December last year, but met with delay due to the developer focusing on development of other games in the series.

“Halo: Spartan Strike makes you a new Spartan recruit battling evil forces in this touch-based top-down shooter. Be the Spartan and deny your foes the conquest of Earth. Encounter Promethean and Covenant enemies in 30 thrilling missions through jungles and cities as you seek to thwart plans to make Earth their next conquest.

It’s time to challenge your enemies. Strike Fast. Be a Spartan!”

The game has been developed by Vanguard Games in collaboration with 343 Industries, the same team that gave us Halo: SA. At $5.99, you get a universal app that can be played both on your tablet and Windows Phone device. Unfortunately, there’s no demo for this one and it weighs a hefty 864MB. The good news though, is that the game is fully compatible with devices having 512MB RAM. We have no doubt Microsoft will be looking to bring the game to Xbox One later on. However, similar to Halo: Spartan Assault, this one will likely stay exclusive to Microsoft’s platforms (meaning no Android). Get it from the stores at the links below.

Halo: Spartan Strike Windows Phone Store – $5.99

Halo: Spartan Strike Windows Store – $5.99

Update: Microsoft has also released the game for iOS along with Halo: Spartan Assault.

FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime

With FaceTime for Mac you can place and receive video calls to users of FaceTime on supported devices. Learn the system requirements for FaceTime for Mac and basic troubleshooting steps to resolve FaceTime for Mac activation and usage issues.

FaceTime is available for Macs running Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.6 or later, iPod touch (4th generation) or later, iPhone 4 or later, and iPad 2 or later (including iPad mini).Notes

  • FaceTime may not be available in all countries or regions.
  • For information about using FaceTime on a Mac, see FaceTime Support.
  • For troubleshooting FaceTime on iOS Devices (iPod touch (4th generation) or later, iPhone 4 or later, iPad 2 or later and iPad mini), see iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime

Verify your Mac meets the FaceTime system requirements

To participate in video calls, your Mac needs:

  • OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Lion or Mac OS X v10.6.6 (or later) with all available security updates installed.
    • For Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later, the FaceTime App needs to be purchased from the Mac App Store. OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion include FaceTime.
  • A 128-Kbps or better upstream and downstream Internet connection. Performance may vary according to network throughput and usage.
  • A built-in FaceTime camera, an iSight camera (built-in or external), a USB video class (UVC) camera, or a FireWire DV camcorder.
    • Making HD video calls requires a built-in FaceTime HD camera and a 1-Mbps upstream and downstream Internet connection.
    • Receiving HD video calls requires a supported Intel-based Mac. For a complete list, see this article.
  • A microphone.
    • You can use a built-in microphone, or connect an external microphone to your computer’s audio input port.
    • You can use compatible Bluetooth or USB microphone or headsets.

If you have multiple cameras or microphones attached to your computer, use the Video menu to select the camera or microphone you wish to use with FaceTime for Mac.

Activating FaceTime for Mac

Use your Apple ID to register and use FaceTime. FaceTime registration validates your Apple ID and email address for use with FaceTime.

If you are unable to activate FaceTime, try the following:

Sign in to FaceTime for Mac using a valid Apple ID. After you validate the email address for use with FaceTime, other FaceTime users can connect to you using that email address. If you encounter issues registering or using an Apple ID account:

  • Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
  • Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.
  • Check that your email address is verified in FaceTime > Preferences.
    • If FaceTime > Preferences shows your email status as “verifying,” follow the instructions in the verification email that was sent to complete the process.
  • Toggle FaceTime off and on in FaceTime > Preferences.
  • If still unable to Sign In follow the instructions in FaceTime, Game Center, Messages on OS X: Troubleshooting Sign in

Troubleshooting FaceTime for Mac

You can make FaceTime calls using the FaceTime app. You can call FaceTime users whose contact information is in Contacts. You can add contacts and edit contact information in either FaceTime or Contacts. To place a video call, you may use a phone number or email address.

If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:

  • Verify that FaceTime is enabled in FaceTime > Preferences.
    • If the issue persists, or if you see the message “Waiting for Activation”, try toggling FaceTime off and then on.

FaceTime for Mac not working, fix

This article describes basic troubleshooting tips for fixing FaceTime for Mac if it is not working properly. Via FaceTime you place video calls or receive calls from other iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod) or OSX (Mac) users via Wi-FI or cellular networks. The tips we describe here will help you address the most common problems, such as:

  • FaceTime for Mac activation problems
  • No sound issues
  • No camera problems
  • Not receiving calls
  • Poor connections
  • Problems logging into FaceTime

Before we start, please note that FaceTime is available for the following devices:

  • Macs running Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.6 or later,
  • iPod touch (4th generation) or later,
  • iPhone 4 or later
  • iPad 2 or later (including iPad mini).

FaceTime is not available for other devices. For instance if you own an iPad 1, there will be no FaceTime app.

If you are having FaceTime problems on your iOS device(s), please see the following articles:

Also note that if you are living in certain countries (such as United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia), FaceTime may not be available to you due to local laws and regulations.

How to troubleshoot FaceTime for Mac

1.Turn off and on FaceTime by going to FaceTime > Preferences.

FaceTime preferences

2.Make sure that both devices (your Mac and the other party you want to connect with via FaceTime) are connected to the Internet.

3.Go to FaceTime > Preferences and if you see that it says “verifying…”,  you need to verify your email to be able to  use FaceTime. Apple sends verification emails when you sign up.  Check your email to verify.

4.From the Apple () menu, go to System Preferences > Date & Time. Then under the Date & Time tab, check the box for”Set Automatically”. Click the Time Zone tab and select “Set time zone automatically using current location”.

Time and Date

5.If none of the above solutions fix your problem, you may want to change your Mac’s DNS settings to Google’s open DNS. Here is how: Click System Preferences > Network > Select Network (Wi-Fi) > Advanced > the DNS tab > click the + button to add Google DNS, enter 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Click OK then Apply

Deathwatch: Tyranid Invasion from Rodeo Games Release this summer for iOS

Are you feeling lucky, xeno-punk?Article by PocketTactics

If you need a secret kept, you can absolutely trust Rodeo Games with it. Over a year ago we learned that the next game from the makers ofWarhammer Quest would be another Games Workshop property, but aside from that we knew nothing at all. I prodded. I pleaded. Rodeo would divulge nothing. Pocket Tactics spies skulked off into the night to uncover what they could.

“It’s a game about 40K Inquisitors,” reported one. Other reports corroborated this. “It’s about Inquisitors, but it’s based on Cooking Mama,” said another. Eventually, I began to suspect that our spies had been turned. “It’s not a game — it’s an app that turns Siri into an Ork.”

Finally last week, after months of fruitless hypotheses and unworkable theories, Rodeo’s Ben Murch reached out to reveal what the Guildfordians had been working on. “Deathwatch: Tyranid Invasion is set in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe, and focuses on the Deathwatch,” Murch tells us. “Our game is set in the Astolat Sector which is under threat of being consumed by Tyranids from Hive Fleet Leviathan. The Deathwatch are tasked with undertaking high risk missions to turn the tide of war and defeat the invaders.”

No Inquisitors. No Cooking Mama. But lots and lots of Space Marines and their most famous foes. “It’s a turn-based strategy game,” says Murch, “with the emphasis on strategy.” Now we’re talking.

Tyranids know that the secret to a classy spaceship is some judicious up-lighting.

Let’s pause a second for the sake of those not steeped in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K lore: in the far, far future, the galaxy is a neo-gothic fascist hellhole, where the peace (such as it is) is kept by the Emperor’s Space Marines — genetically engineered post-human goliaths in powered armor. Prominent in the Space Marines’ rogues gallery are the parasitic Tyranids, who in the GW board games of the 1980s were a wink-wink nudge-nudge riff on Ridley Scott’s Aliens, but grew into an identity of their own.

In the 40K universe, every Space Marines chapter must provide a few of its finest Marines to the Deathwatch, a sort of special forces unit that specializes in fighting non-human aliens, or xenos in Games Workshop parlance.

There have already been Space Marines-versus-Tyranids games of course — starting with the fondly-remembered 1989 board game Space Hulk, which got a digital adaptation of its own a couple of years ago. But it’s the Deathwatch (and its intrinsic diversity) that frees Rodeo’s game from previous turn-based Tyranid-fighting games.

“The gameplay difference [between Deathwatch and] Space Hulk is huge,” says Murch. “More versatility in your team composition, weapons and wargear, means huge tactical flexibility and pace of play. You can take a whole load of Space Wolf Assault dudes into a mission, tool them up with shields, and fling them at the enemy! Or you could bring along Ultramarine Devastators, lead by the Master of Relics and perforate the enemy from afar. Or you could compose a team of Tactical guys armed solely with gravity guns to literally halt the enemy in their track. Or almost anything in-between and loads more, besides.”

I'll never forget when the Ultramarines moved to Indianapolis.

Having a diverse lot of Space Marines is just the start of it. Space Hulk’s cast of Tyranid bad guys was rather same-y — ravenous monsters from space get boring after a while when they offer less variety than a North Korean barbershop.

“They’re a pretty interesting bunch of xenos to turn into the bad guys,” Murch tells us. “Not only is every unit very different (great for gameplay), but they all look hugely different. Obviously not the best from an art schedule point of view, but great for telling who’s who on the battlefield. They also provide a great kicking off point to the Deathwatch story. Our game is set in the Astolat sector. The Tyranids want to devour it. Who knows what ancient evil or foreign technology they may disturb along their way.” By that, I think Murch is suggesting that Games Workshop has given Rodeo a pretty free reign with the setting — Astolat seems like a part of space they’ve invented from scratch, meaning that just about anybody from GW’s vast universe of characters might show up.

Deathwatch is being built in Unreal Engine 4 (” I think we’re one of the first iOS games to be using it”) which Rodeo have used to create a fully-3D gameplay space. Unlike Warhammer Quest and their Hunters series, the camera in Deathwatch freely rotates. Another Rodeo first is online multiplayer. “You can actually take your marines from the game (with all their own wargear), and battle your friends,” Murch says. “Up to 4 players are supported.” There’s also an in-game Codex which acts like a sticker book that tracks unique items and heroes you’ve uncovered in the campaign — there’s over 250 unique weapons and other items in the game, Rodeo says.

Agoraphobics beware.

I asked Murch how Rodeo had settled on this idea. After the huge success of Warhammer Quest, why not make another Games Workshop board game adaptation?

“It was a bit strange really. We took the idea to GW, but they had already talked about us doing a Deathwatch game. So when we pitched it, they were pretty much straight on-board! As a studio, we wanted to get back into space after our foray into fantasy. Not that we particularly prefer one or the other, it’s just a nice change of pace. I’m sure we’ll head back to a fantasy setting at some point.

“We also wanted to go back to crafting our own game experiences. Warhammer Quest was amazing. Like, seriously, a dream come true. However, there was always this feeling in the studio that we should follow the board game rule set. Not a requirement set upon us by GW or anything, more out of respect for the existing game. By taking an IP and not an existing game, we pretty much had carte blanche when it came to what type of game it could be. The first few months of development were taken up with trying out ideas. Someone would come up with a ruleset, and we’d play it using a tabletop and some miniatures. It was actually a very similar process to how we started the company with our first game Hunters.”

Deathwatch: Tyranid Invasion will be out on iOS “early summer” and I, for one, can’t wait to play it. We’ll do a preview just as soon as we can.

There’s a trailer below with the most unexpectedly sentimental piano music. Perhaps the Tyranids will break down into sobs before they reach the Space Marine skirmish line.

iPhone 5/5s/6/plus getting too hot: Device overheating problem?

0

Article by AppleToolBox

Several new iPhone 5 users have reported that their iPhone is getting abnormally hot. The new iPhone (iPhone 5) has some impressive features. When you are charging your battery or using your iPhone for a period of time, it is normal for the iPhone to get warm. If you use your device in extreme conditions with temperatures that are too low or high, your iPhone may not function properly. For instance, the iPhone may overheat because of weather conditions and the associated temperature (e.g. leaving your device out in the sun for a long period of time). This may lead to your device:

(a) not charging

(b) going black

(c) showing an alert message that your iPhone needs to cool down

(d) showing weak cellular signals

(e) disabling camera flash.

If you experience this, turn your iPhone off and keep it in a cool place for an extended period of time before attempting to use the device again.

If your device is overheating to the point that it really hurts when touched, contact Apple support ASAP; this probably indicates you have a faulty device.

Article by Fifasolved

We have spent the past week browsing through numerous forums that are dedicated to helping FUT users, and solving their problems. However, one of our readers tweeted to us with an issue that prevents him and many others from entering the FUT 14 Web App via their mobile phone or similar devices.

First off, if you want to create an account then go here

Once an account has been created, a lot of gamers are seeing the following image appear, which can be viewed below.

FUT 14 Web App Glitch

What simply happens, is players will start-up the web app and it’ll then come up with this message saying that you’ll need to buy FIFA 14 even though all users have most probably already got their copy of it. We and others have tried to contact EA Sports directly with this huge problem, but they haven’t managed to get back to us or anyone else for that matter.

Troubleshooting: What Course Of Action To Take Next

This seems to be one heck of a major glitch that only the developers have the power to repair, but we do have to suggestions that have seemed to work for the majority of Ultimate Team players.

  • Create an origin account if you don’t have one, this seems to work for some people.
  • If that doesn’t work, the n we suggest that you completely clear all of your cache & cookies and for best results do both of these steps.

We are not saying that this will definitely work for you, but it has helped some users in some cases. If you’re still stuck after our advice, then we recommend that you contact Electronic Arts directly byclicking here and submitting a ticket request.
