Dropbox has announced a new update for its app on Android that brings one of the biggest user requested feature on board — the ability to save files to external memory. That means you can now transfer files saved in the cloud to your phone’s microSD card. There’s no restriction on the type of files that can be transferred either.
To copy a file to your device’s external memory, simply tap the “Quick Action” button to the right of the file you want to export, select “More”, then “Export”, and tap “Save to Device” to pick your external SD card.
Besides the above mentioned change, the app also gets some bug fixes and search performance enhancements. Of course, since Apple devices don’t support external memory, there’s no point of bringing the same feature over to iOS.
With competition between Dropbox, Microsoft’s OneDrive and Google’s cloud storage option heating up, these companies are doing all that they can to rope customers into buying into their service.
