whatsapp

If your recently got a new Windows Phone device or accidentally deleted WhatsApp from your old phone, you might have noticed that the app wasn’t available in Windows Phone Store since the last two or so weeks. The reason for the removal was compatibility issues with the OS. After Microsoft made public that it was working closely with WhatsApp to resolve the issue, we were hoping for the app to return sooner than later.

Fortunately, it’s back and better, it’s been updated with new features. Here’s the full changelog:

  • Chat backgrounds
  • Broadcast lists
  • Privacy settings (settings > account > privacy)
  • Media auto-download settings (settings > chat settings > media auto-download)
  • Custom notification tones (Windows Phone 8 Update 3 required)
  • Various enhancements and bug fixes

Yes, that’s right, you won’t have to see black backgrounds while chatting with your friends anymore. Also, you can now set custom ringtones for the messenger, as well as change your privacy settings. Granted, these features were long overdue and should have been here earlier, but it’s better late than never, right?

You can download WhatsApp from the Windows Phone Store here.
