Swiftkey for Android adds support for 12 more languages

Popular third party keyboard SwiftKey has received a major update on Android. The update claims to make the app faster than before by reducing the time it takes for the keyboard to appear, as well as the keyboard quit time. Switching between fields is also faster and the app is said to be more responsive while typing.

In sheer numbers, the time it takes for the keyboard to appear from a cold start has been reduced by 15-20%. The time taken for the app to quit is down by 20-30%, while switching between fields is 15-50% faster. As for the typing response, the company claims that’s been improved by 10-18% over the previous version.

That’s not all though, since SwiftKey also gets support for 12 additional languages, mostly from the Indian subcontinent. These include: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Nepali, Sinhala.
