HERE Maps gets updated on Windows 8.1, becomes available worldwide

Nokia has updated its HERE Maps on Windows 8.1. The update is a big one and brings in hosts of changes and improvements. Also, with the update, the app is now available worldwide.

HERE Maps now allows users to manually set their current position. This is a handy feature especially for users without a GPS chip on their system. You can set your location by either panning across the map or by entering the address. The city pages have also been given an update and revamped with the update. Lastly, route options have also been improved. You can plan your routes better and avoid ferries and toll roads. You can add up to eight waypoints on a route.

The update has just begun rolling out and may not be available in your region until a few hours.
