Temple Run 1 and 2 cross 1 billion downloads collectively

Temple Run made endless runners on smartphones what they are today and Temple Run 2  only managed to take the sub genre even more popular. Today, developer Imangi studios announced that the two games have collectively crosses 1 billion downloads collectively on all platforms. These include Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows and BlackBerry. The count doesn’t include Disney spinoffs Brave and Oz.

Further, the studio revealed that 6 percent of all its audience are women and 36 percent of all its users hail from China, followed by the US at 21 percent. This isn’t surprising, since these two countries also happen to be the biggest smartphone markets.

With such success, we can’t help but wonder if Imangi would bring a third iteration in the series sometime in the future, or if it feels that the franchise shouldn’t be milked further. We’ve even heard talks about a movie adaptation, but then that remains to be seen.
